Though he still hides the fact he wanted to capture Ogre, and he wanted to end the Devil Gene once and for all - which would eventually involve killing Jin - he's still open about explaining what it is, or at least what he knew about it.
In the anime, Heihachi is surprisingly more honest to Jin, at least to a certain degree. The reason this is part of the list isn't the Gene itself, but the fact that Jin is more aware of it. It makes him more powerful and aggressive, thus making him a better fighter. The gene Jin inherited from his father Kazuya essentially works in the same fashion as in the game. Not to mention the fact that Kuma is Heihachi's pet, so not having these characters together is just odd. He has a cameo, where Paul mentions fighting a bear (which is canon) - however, he acts like that was the first time he'd done so, even though he fought Kuma's father in Tekken 2. The most curious case of cut plot, though, is Kuma. Nina doesn't even get a good explanation, other than money. We don't know why Yoshimitsu is at the tournament, for example.
